What type of stove do you require?
-
A wood-burning stove is a heating appliance capable of burning wood fuel and wood-derived biomass fuel. Generally the appliance consists of a solid metal (usually cast iron or steel) closed fire chamber, a grate and an adjustable air control. The appliance will be connected to a suitable chimney or flue which will fill with hot combustion gases once the fuel is ignited

A multifuel stove is very similar to a wood-burning stove in look and design. Multifuel refers to the ability to burn not only wood, but also coal and peat. As a rule of thumb, if an appliance has a grate for the fire to burn on and removable ash pan it is a multifuel appliance. If the fire simply burns on a bed of ash it is a wood fuelled appliance, and cannot be used for coal or peat.

A pellet stove is a stove that burns compressed wood or biomass pellets to create a source of heat for residential and sometimes industrial spaces. By slowly feeding fuel from a storage container (hopper) into a burn-pot area, they create a constant flame that requires little to no physical adjustments.
As a rough guide for your heating requirements measure the room and multiply height x width x depth (in metres), divide this by 14, this will provide the average heating requirements for the room in kilowatts. This requirement will vary according to items such as position, windows, insulation and air changes.

 | Insert / Inset Wood and Multi Fuel Stoves The Inset models provide a convenient solution to converting an inefficient open fire into a stunning, high-performance fireplace. Models are designed to fit into a British standard fireplace opening, with the smaller models being designed to fit without the need to make many changes to the existing fireplace, by fitting neatly in front of the chair brick. The larger models have a deeper firebox to assist in providing a higher output stove. |
